Can they read it out loud?

Fifteen tricky words. They read each one, you mark it right or wrong, and the report card settles it.

How it works

  1. Hand them the screen, or prop it up and start filming.
  2. They read the word out loud. Tap “Show how it’s said” to check.
  3. Mark it right or wrong. After fifteen words you get a report card to share.

Is this a real literacy test?

No. Saying a word wrong usually means you learned it from reading, which is a good sign. This is a pronunciation game, not a measure of anyone’s reading ability.

About the pronunciations

They follow common American English. Some words have more than one accepted pronunciation, so go easy on close calls. The “Hear it” voice is your device’s built-in reader. When it disagrees with the card, trust the card.

Nothing you type leaves your device.
